Good Things Are Coming My Way

The title is right, good things are coming my way.  I am currently one of the new members that will be working for my college’s newspaper.  I was recommended last semester by one of my professors and I am happy about it.  I will be able to use the articles I write as writing samples for when I apply to graduate schools later this year.  I already have two stories I’m going to cover for this month’s newspaper.  I told my grandmother last week about my new job and she was very proud of me.  I’m proud of myself, too.  I’ll be able to add this job position to my resume (which hasn’t been updated since I started college in 2009).  This semester seems promising. I’m not sure why, but it feels like I’m going to do better (class-wise).  I already proved to myself last semester that I can achieve a 3.0 GPA, so hopefully I’ll be able to improve that after this semester ends.

I’m still on the hunt for an internship.  I want to have one for the summer months so I don’t have to worry about it when I come back to school in the fall.  I don’t want anything to hold me back when fall semester comes around because I plan to graduate from here in December.  I don’t think I can take another full year here, honestly.  I’ve been ready to graduate so I can move on to graduate school.  I’m still looking at applying to schools in California since that’s my birthplace and I haven’t been out there since 2001.  It would be nice if one of the CA schools accepted me.  In the meantime, I’m just going to focus on making this semester an even better one.
